San Diego Snoring Treatment Clinic Offers Permanent Non-Surgical Cure

August 12th, 2008 by admin

Snoring is a problem that affects those surrounding you more than it affects you. This is why more than the person himself/ herself who suffers from this problem, those who sleep in the same room with them would be more anxious that they are cured. There are instances though, when people who snore are unable to sleep deep enough to get the required rest as they are awaken by the sound of their own snoring, which in turn can cause many complications.

Types Of Treatments Available

For a long time the only treatment you could get for snoring would be some age old home remedies or herbal medicines – both methods unapproved by the FDA- or plain ear plugs. This was mostly because earlier people had not considered this problem important (or bad) enough to seek treatment actively. Once they did, places like the San Diego snoring treatment clinic mushroomed all over the country promising a restful sleep not only for the patient but also for those who sleep around them as well.

The treatment often would depend upon what type of factors cause the snoring; these are basically factors that constrict the air passage and provoke the unusual sound of snoring by forcing the air to and fro while breathing. The most common causes for snoring are (i) the inflammation of the nasal and airway tissues, (ii) collapse or acute relaxation of the opening of the airway, (iii) obstruction of the airway due to fat accumulation when the person suffers from excessive weight, and many others.

What Does The San Diego Snoring Treatment Clinic Offer You

The San Diego snoring treatment clinic offers you a good shot at finding a cure for your snoring. The treatment might not come with a foolproof guarantee, but it does promise a thorough check and pinning down the actual reason that provokes snoring in your case. This means that even if you do not get completely cured, at least you would be able to learn what exactly is causing this problem for you.

The San Diego snoring treatment is not very expensive and if you look at it without any bias, you would agree that the fee charged is reasonable for the pains they take to identify the culprit that cause snoring for you. They do not guarantee a cure because sometimes the cause is outside the non-surgical cure – such as congestion caused by ingrown nasal cartilage, or clamping down of the air passage due to the inflammation caused by chronic sinusitis, etc.

Sometimes, simple remedies are offered by the San Diego snoring treatment clinic that work like a charm, such as quit smoking to reduce the inflammation in the throat, sleeping with the upper half of the body in a reclining position (with the help of a stack of pillows) or simply ensuring that you sleep on the side than on the back.

The San Diego snoring treatment clinic also offers to teach yoga and meditation as an optional cure for snoring which has been received with great optimism (and even greater success) by the majority of the patients.

Simple Ways to Cure Snoring

August 10th, 2008 by admin

Snoring is a common problem that affects not only the snorer but also the sleeping partners of the snorer. In some cases it may be the person who sleeps with the snorer who suffers more from the problem. It’s no wonder then that the seemingly simple problem of snoring can actually have a very negative effect on relationships, both emotionally and physically. However once the cause of snoring has been diagnosed there are a few simple ways to cure snoring.

Possible Causes of Snoring

There are a variety of things that may cause snoring, ranging from the commonplace and easily remedied to causes that are more serious and possibly life threatening. One of the causes is being overweight or out of shape. When a person is overweight the excess weight and fatty tissues around the neck area make the throat smaller, constricting airways and resulting in snoring. Another cause of snoring is a history of smoking, even second hand smoke inhalation can cause snoring. Smoking causes the muscles around the throat to relax and also causes the nasal and lung passages to become congested, increasing the likelihood of snoring at night.

Another cause of smoking is the consumption of alcohol and certain kinds of medication. Alcohol and some medications relax the tongue and throat muscles which can cause breathing difficulties. Breathing difficulty during sleep will lead to snoring so the consumption of alcohol and certain medications at night can cause someone to snore. The most easily determined cause of snoring is a person’s sleeping posture. Sleeping on one’s back will allow the flesh of the throat to relax and block airways, resulting in snoring.

How to Cure Snoring

It may be surprising to find that the remedies to cure snoring are very simple and there is no need to go out and buy anything to stop snoring. Firstly, losing weight is the first way to cure snoring if you are overweight or not in the best shape. Losing weight will help to reduce fatty tissue around the neck and greatly reduce the problem of snoring if not completely eliminating it. If you smoke and snore, then this is just another incentive to stop smoking. Quitting smoking and reducing your exposure to second hand smoke inhalation will help to cure snoring.

Avoiding alcohol at night as well as certain types of food before you sleep will help to cure snoring. You may want to avoid drinking full fat milk and soy products just before bed as these foods actually prevent mucus from draining properly due to their thickness. The resulting congestion in the throat results in snoring. If you must drink a milky drink before bed switch to a low fat or skim milk. Another thing to avoid before bed are sleeping pills, tranquillizers and antihistamines, all medications that relax the throat muscles and lead to snoring. Although you may be taking these medicines to help you sleep they contribute to poor sleep and the poor sleep of you partner.

Finally to cure snoring, change your sleeping position to improve breathing and circulation in your nasal passages. Sleeping on your back is a very common sleeping position but it contributes to snoring. Changing to a different sleeping position such as on your side may be difficult but it reduces the problem of snoring. Elevating your head by placing rolled up towels underneath your mattress near the headboard to improve sleeping posture can also cure snoring. These simple remedies can improve your sleep and your partner’s sleep at no cost.

What You Need To Know About Stop Snoring Aids

August 8th, 2008 by admin

In the old days, your stop snoring aid was your husband or wife, who smacked you on the shoulder to roll on your side. Now, there are far less painful alternatives. Before you use any stop snoring aids, you need to know why you snore. For example, if you snore because you have a growth in your larynx, then the only treatment is surgery. In the long run, getting a doctor to diagnose just why you snore will save you money, time and sore throats with stop snoring aids.

Not For All Snorers

Perhaps you have woken up to discover that you were snoring. Should you be concerned? Well, if your sinuses are clogged up or if you are using decongestants, then the snoring will most likely go away with the sinus problem. People who never snore will do so like a bear when they are given anesthesia or medicine to help promote sleep. But if you snore very loudly all of the time, then you can probably benefit from a stop snoring aid.

Pillows

Elevating your head while you sleep might be a simple stop snoring aid. To be sure that your head will stay in position, you need a firm pillow sold for either stop snoring purposes or to stop heartburn while you sleep. Your head needs to be at least four inches above the bed in order for this to help. You probably will need a few nights to get used to this position.

Another stop smoking aid involving pillows is to use none at all! Regular pillows can bend the neck, causing the blockages which contribute to snoring. If you can tolerate it, try sleeping without pillows and that might do the trick.

Dental Appliances

There are also stop snoring aids that look a lot like athletic mouth guards that keep your lower jaw or tongue from pressing into the back of your throat. They also need a few sleepless nights to get used to the feel of them. These are usually made out of acrylic. The best places to get them are from dentists who can fit them especially for your mouth. You can order these dental appliances from online stores, but the fit might be questionable.

The only way to find out if these stop snoring aids work for you is to try them. The results vary from person to person, just like with any other medical treatment. Modern Day Stop Snoring Specialist Versus Natural Therapy

August 6th, 2008 by admin

Are you looking for a treatment for snoring? You would be surprised to hear that you do not need a stop snoring specialist for that, but some simple advice which would get you rid of the problem. First of all you would need to understand that snoring happens because the airway passage is not open enough or smooth enough for the air to pass unobstructed. Hence, the first step in searching for a cure for snoring would logically be to identify what causes this obstruction.

The Major Causes For Snoring At Your Fingertips

A good stop snoring specialist would advice that you need to have a series of tests done before any treatment can be worked out. The tests would cover things such as how allergic you are to dust, pollen, animal dander (if you have a pet in your home), etc; whether you are smoking just before going to bed; whether you are consuming alcohol just before sleeping; infections in the ENT (ear, nose and throat) area and so on. If the tests come positive on any of these aspects, you are a lucky person because you can get the medicines prescribed by your stop snoring specialist and all your problems are over.

However, if the causes are not clear in spite of the tests and consultation with a good and experienced stop snoring specialist, you would have to use the general home made remedies over his/her professional advice as these would be more effective comparatively.

The Natural Stop Snoring Specialist

Where modern science and today’s stop snoring specialist fail, the ancient wisdom of long lost civilizations have a ready answer and cure. Check out with a homeopathy doctor and an ayurvedic doctor. The homeopathy is a science that very often guarantees results; while an ayurved would be more circumspect with the promise of a cure; however, in most cases, the problem would be solved with these types of medicines.

If your problem is stubborn enough to persist even after these treatments, only one course of action would remain open – to loose weight. Very often snoring is influenced by two problems, (1) fat deposits on the throat which presses on the airway passage, and (2) chronic infection. Both can be chased away with the help of yoga.

Yoga is one of the greatest stop snoring specialist in the world. It is said that there is no such ailment that yoga cannot ameliorate. Here too, yoga assures one hundred percent cure provided you learn the asanas (postures) from a certified yoga teacher. It is very important that whenever you learn yoga you should do so only with the help of a certified master because your success in getting a cure lies on whether you are doing these correctly or not. If you would like to try some different methods that can cure your snoring problem, you should check out Christian Goodman’s book ‘The Stop Snoring Excercise Program’.

August 2nd, 2008 by admin

Snoring can be more than just annoying, it may be a sign of something more seriously wrong with your health. The noise of snoring is caused by the vibration of the soft tissues in the throat, and can be annoying and frustrating not only to the actual sufferer but also to their loved ones who have to deal with the sound of the snoring throughout the night.

Before you go ahead and choose just any stop snoring anti snore device however, you should learn a bit more about the options that are available to you and then make the most informed decision on which would be best suited to you.

Nasal Strips

Easily one of the most popular stop snoring anti snore device products, nasal strips have been around and been used for years now. They are used to widen the nasal valve and thereby open up the airway to the throat and lungs. This allows the air to be more easily transferred through the throat and thus eases one’s snoring.

They are usually made of plastic although other materials are often implemented as well, and they are typically worn throughout the entire night. They are available without a prescription which makes them convenient, and they are applied topically and therefore have no internal impact.

Nasal Dilators

Nasal dilators are also very popular and effective stop snoring anti snore devices. They are typically made of plastic or stainless steel coil and work by helping to keep the airway open, thereby cutting down on the vibration that leads to snoring.

Throat Sprays

Throat sprays are also a very popular stop snoring treatment, and work by delivering natural lubricating oils to the back of the throat. Users generally only have to apply these sprays a few times throughout the night and typically experience great success in terms of the relief of their snoring condition.

Are There Any Tricks To Stop Snoring?

July 31st, 2008 by admin

There are many tricks to stop snoring, most of them home remedies that need to be tried in order to determine if they will work for you or not. They will not work for every snorer on the planet. You need to know why you are snoring. If you snore most nights very loudly, you need to see your doctor and get a professional medical diagnosis. If you have sleep apnea, then the only trick to stop snoring for you is surgery. Please do not use this article as a substitute for a doctor’s advice.

Have A Ball

This might seem a little cruel, but the BBC reports this as a very effective trick to stop snoring. You sew or duct-taps a small ball to the back of your pajama tops or nightgown. The goal is to keep you sleeping on your sides instead of on your back, when most instances of snoring occur. If you are the type that has to sleep naked, then you might want to try another trick to stop snoring.

Tape Your Lips Together

This is another trick to stop snoring promoted by BBC News. BBC News is one of the world’s most respected news agencies and not prone to practical jokes. Consider taping your mouth shut if you snore. Surgical tape or “ouchless” band-aids (called “plasters” in England) would probably be your best bet, rather than the skin removal power of masking tape. Even clear Scotch tape is easier on the lips than masking tape.

Suck On A Pacifier

Another trick to stop snoring is to use a baby’s pacifier (called “dummies” in England). You just stick it in your mouth and apparently it encourages you to keep your mouth closed. The BBC did not say whether you had to tape the pacifier into your mouth or not. This is also supposed to help non-snoring partners of snorers. When the snoring starts, stick the pacifier in the mouth. The BBC and this writer does not claim any responsibility for what might result.

Use Vapor Rub

You know those really stinky creams that you smear onto your chest or throat in order to help get some relief from intense congestion or a band cough? The BBC reports that it also can, in some instances, reduce snoring. Apparently, it helps keep your airways clear. And keep your sinuses drained, probably.

No matter what trick to stop snoring you use, you can help them along by trying to loose weight, quit smoking and not drink alcohol. If you would like to try some different methods that can cure your snoring problem, you should check out Christian Goodman’s book ‘The Stop Snoring Excercise Program’.

Can You Stop Snoring By Singing?

July 29th, 2008 by admin

According to studies done by the University of Exeter, you can stop snoring by singing. You can’t just sing along to Bohemian Rhapsody once and expect to be cured, however. In order to stop snoring by singing, you need to keep at it. Results will not be seen for some time, just in the same way that you don’t see results of getting a muscular body until you’ve worked out regularly for months.

Work Those Muscles

According to the University of Exeter, singing works out muscles in the back of the throat, which can get flabby like other kinds of muscles. If the muscles in the back of the throat get flabby, they make vibrations by rubbing the front of the throat when you deeply breathe in your sleep. Keep your muscles tight, and there should be less noise.

Singing also works out the muscles in your soft palette and upper throat which may cause snoring or aggravate it. Stop snoring by singing has to be done for at least a half hour every day for weeks before you hear (or don’t hear) any results. There are special “Singing for Snorers” CDs and booklets available online or in health food stores that claim they help tighten and tone these muscles better than just dinging anything at random.

First, Go See Your Doctor

Stopping snoring by singing only works in certain cases. It will not work for snoring brought on by sleep apnea, for example. Snoring to the point where the windows rattle is not a normal thing to do. Softly snoring every once in a while is. If you are snoring to the point where it wakes you up (let alone any of your roommates), you really need to go see a doctor.

If your doctor does not find a physical obstruction in your throat or mouth, then you can start trying to stop snoring by singing. But you can greatly help yourself stop snoring by singing if you stop smoking, loose some excess weight (if your doctor thinks you are overweight) and if you do not take heavy sedative drugs like Valium.

The Only Way To Know Is To Try

The advantages of singing every day in order to cut down on snoring are that you don’t need a prescription, you can sing what you want and there are very little side effects. Although the participants in the University of Exeter study were given formal singing lessons for three months, formal lessons aren’t necessary. If you would like to try some different methods that can cure your snoring problem, you should check out Christian Goodman’s book ‘The Stop Snoring Excercise Program’.

Aids to Stop Snoring – What Works?

July 27th, 2008 by admin

If you have a snoring problem but you would rather avoid surgery there are some aids designed to stop snoring that are available and have been successful in helping people reduce their snoring.

Continuous positive airway pressure appliances (CPAP) have been effective at reducing snoring with some people. With this device, you wear a mask while you sleep which is attached to a pump that produces pressure in the mask which helps to prevent your throat from partially collapsing. CPAC is frequently recommended by doctors for their snoring patients.

Adjustable Bed

Another useful aid to stop snoring is an adjustable bed. The Vancouver Sleep and Breathing Center has recommended that people with a snoring problem place their bed at an elevation of about thirty degrees which will reduce the amount of pressure that is affecting the diaphragm which will cause the airway passages to be sufficiently open. A properly elevated bed will place the head at the appropriate level to prevent the tongue from falling against the uvula which will effectively reduce snoring noises.

Dental Devices

Dental devices are popular items to reduce snoring and they basically come in three different categories. Tongue retaining devices as well as those that are designed with a flange to retain the tongue can make it difficult at times to swallow while sleeping. The Mandibular Advancement Appliance is an aid designed to stop snoring which is available at stores but some people prefer to use a custom made version produced by their dentist.

Another aid designed to stop snoring that you can try is a specially made snoring pillow. They are usually made from foam and are manufactured to persuade you to sleep on your side which will help to prevent snoring. Nasal value dilators have been used as aids to stop snoring and can be effective for people who snore due to clogged nasal airways. However, the nasal strip varieties occasionally fall off your nose while you sleep, while the plastic piece varieties, which are inserted into your nostrils, can be uncomfortable.

Some people with snoring problems due to blockages in the nasal airways prefer using snoring sprays which might provide relief on a temporary basis. Using nasal spays for the long term may harm your mucous membranes and they have been known to be addictive.

These are some of the numerous aids designed to stop snoring that are available and have been useful to some people who have an annoying snoring problem. If you have a serious snoring condition a sleep study may be appropriate in order to determine if you have serious condition such as sleep apnea.

Pillaring: The Easy New Procedure To Help You Stop Snoring

July 25th, 2008 by admin

Snoring is an incredible nuisance – and not normal. It’s estimated that one in five people suffer from chronic snoring (also called habitual snoring). That’s a lot of sleepless nights – especially for the other four out of the five people! Snoring is a complex problem that does need a mutli-faceted solution. But these solutions don’t have to be painful. The new procedure to stop snoring is called pillaring, and it is being hailed as a non-surgical breakthrough.

What Is It?

The new pillar procedure to stop snoring involves inserting special implants into the soft palate to keep it in place and not block your air passage when you are in deep sleep. It is the blockage of your air passages that cause the horrible noise. The implants are made out of (get ready for it – here we go) polyethylene terephthalate, a synthetic non-toxic compound. They are inserted via a needle, so you will never be able to get the new procedure to stop snoring over the counter.

You need three of these braided implants in order to help significantly reduce your snoring. They are injected into the center and both sides of the muscles of the soft palate. They tighten up the flabby muscles to help keep your air passages clear. This new procedure to stop snoring also causes scarring in your throat, which in this case is a good thing. Scarring also helps keep those throat muscles tight.

Does It Work?

It is estimated that the new procedure to stop snoring works 85% for the snorers who got the implants. They are approved by the Federal Drug Administration (FDA) for moderate to severe snoring, but not yet approved for sleep apnea, which is snoring at its most extreme. That is when you are choked during sleep, often waking you up repeatedly through the night.

Other Tips

You need to get a doctor to insert the implants. If your doctor does not know how to do this, then he or she should be able to refer you to a doctor or ear, nose and throat specialist who is. Some dentists also know how to implant the new procedure to stop snoring. You will have to check with your health insurance company to see whether they will cover any part of this procedure.

You can also help reduce your snoring by cutting down on alcohol, loosing weight and avoiding sleeping on your back. To learn more about natural ways to cure your snoring problem, check out ‘The Stop Snoring Excercise Program’ written by Christian Goodman.
